Versatility is a trait that cannot be overlooked when it comes to football players.

For Rick Stockstill and his staff, finding those players has been an area in which they've found success over the years.

Well, they can add another notch on the old belt as the Blue Raiders added Reed Blankenship to the fold Wednesday night.

GoMiddle.com reported the news earlier in the evening inside Lightning Lounge before Blankenship took to Twitter to make things official.

A rising senior for West Limestone High (AL), Blankenship has been all over the field for the Wildcats - and finding success no matter where he's plugged in.

His latest endeavors have found him starring at the quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back positions for the Wildcats.

As a junior, Blankenship ran for 1,134 yards, threw for 616 yards and totaled 23 touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball. On defense, he tallied 74 tackles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery - which was promptly ran to the house for a TD.

For his efforts on the field and and in the camp circuit, Blankenship started racking up the offers following his junior season. Along with the Blue Raiders, Blankenship held notable offers from Minnesota, Tulane, Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Georgia State and Troy - among others.

The Blue Raiders will look to Blankenship to play the safety position at the next level. His instincts and ball hawking skills figure to translate well with his blend of size and speed.

Blankenship credited MT offensive tackles and tight ends coach Mike Polly, who is on a bit of a tear right now after landing Fulton High (TN) LB Chaton Mobley on Monday night as well.
