Signee Spotlight: Jaylin Lane Question and Answer Session

It's time to keep the train rolling when it comes to the GoMiddle signee spotlight series. Matthew Dossett got another to opportunity to speak to wide receiver Jaylin Lane.

Lane racked up some gaudy statistics as a high school senior. He had 76 snags for 1,611 yards. On top of that, he accumulated 30 touchdown scores.

Here is the lowdown from the conversation Dossett had with Lane.

What is the biggest area of improvement you made during your senior year?

The biggest area of improvement I made during my senior year was my speed.

Is there anything in particular you need to work on and improve?

I’ve been mainly working on improving my stance and start.

What number do you want to sport in college?

I want to get number 83.

Was there a point in time where you knew you wanted to be a Blue Raider?

It was probably after my first visit there just seeing all of the hospitality the showed me. It felt like a home and a brotherhood to me.

What other schools were you mainly considering before you picked MTSU?

I was considering UNCC, Tennessee-Chattanooga, and Coastal (Carolina).

What are three things you are looking forward to the most about being a college student?

I’m looking forward to meeting and forming bonds with my new teammates, living a more independent lifestyle being away from home, and playing the game I love.

Do you talk with other members of the recruiting class or guys on the team?

I’ve talked to a bunch of other guys coming in, and I’ve mainly only talked to the other receivers on the team.

Do you have any idea on the playbook? Do you think it will be hard to learn the playbook and the route tree?

Yeah, I got the playbook right after I signed, and it hasn’t been that hard to learn cause it’s mostly the same concepts I have been used to running.

Who was the main coach who recruited you?

The main coaches who recruited met were coach Royston and coach Silvoy.

What have you done during the quarantine period?

I’ve been just doing school work and (I) work to stay in shape and fresh for when we come in.

Fastest 40 you have run?

The fastest 40 I ever ran is a 4.43.

What are your individual goals for your freshman year and what are your team goals?

My individual goals are to be ready to help the team whenever and wherever I can, and of course, the team goal is to win a conference championship.
