Middle Tennessee State notched one in the win column last Saturday when they took down Florida International on their homecoming.
This week MTSU welcomes the North Texas Mean Green into Floyd Stadium.
As custom, the GoMiddle staff does their best, taking a stab predicting the outcome for the game.
Matthew Dossett (3-2 on the season)
Middle Tennessee State proved me wrong last weekend, knocking me down a peg to a 3-2 record when it comes to picking the games.
This week, against North Texas, it is a change of scenery, as the Blue Raiders are perceived across the board to be a favorite against the Mean Green. Right now they are a 6.5 point favorite.
As mentioned in the North Texas preview article, ESPN's FPI predictor gives MT a 53.2 percent chance to get the W.
One thing is for certain about North Texas, they yield a lot of points and a lot of yards. The fewest points they have allowed in a game is 31, and that was against the creampuff that Is Houston Baptist. They were lit up by SMU, Southern Miss, and Charlotte.
North Texas has a four-headed tailback animal consisting of DeAndre Torrey, Oscar Adaway II, Tre Siggers, and Isaiah Johnson. Look for NT to force feed these four main guys. Quarterback Austin Aune is also liable to dart off with the pigskin as well.
Ultimately I think MT rides a mini heater and wins their second consecutive game of the season. I think the offense will click, with Asher O'Hara doing damage with his arm and his legs. Defensively, look for the unit to bow up when it matters most at the end.

Rickey Fuquay Jr. (4-1 on the season)
Redshirt Junior Quarterback Asher O'Hara overcame two first quarter interceptions and hooked up with Redshirt Senior Wide Receiver Jarrin Pierce for the game-winning touchdown with 1:20 left in regulation to spoil Florida International's Homecoming.North Texas comes to Murfreesboro on Blackout weekend with the No. 1 offense in Conference USA with 550.0 YPG; however the Mean Green have the worst defense in C-USA in virtually every category (total YPG, passing YPG, rushing YPG and PPG). Middle Tennessee comes into matchup with a 5-1 record against C-USA foes on Blackout night.
The big question is which Mean Green will we see under the bright lights.O'Hara and Redshirt Sophomore Quarterback Austin Aune will duel it out; however O'Hara will come through clutch and the Blue Raider defense will come through with a big play late once again to send MT to back-to-back wins.
MT: 35
North Texas: 28
Tyler Pellom (4-1 on the season)
Middle Tennessee won last week! I'm so happy for the players and coaches who had to have felt the world was on their shoulders. 0-4 is not a fun place to be. 1-4 isn't great, either, but it's a step in the right direction.
FIU is pretty bad, it appears. And by all accounts, North Texas is the same, if not worse. NT has the worst defense in the CUSA, by a fair margin. And their offense is the best in the league, by a fair margin.
I picked MTSU to win this game at the beginning of the year (I projected it would be their first win of the year, so I was wrong there.) With two powerful offenses, I believe this game will come down to which QB makes fewer mistakes.
Figuring MT gets an advantage playing at home on "Blackout" night, that North Texas isn't very good, and that Gregory Grate and crew will get a takeaway at an opportune time, I think MTSU wins.
MT: 41
North Texas: 31
