MTSU gets a pair of dynamic running backs

It did not take long Wednesday morning for the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders to officially get good news.

Martell Pettaway and Amir Rasul are officially in the boat for MTSU. Both of these guys are running backs and were initially listed in the class of 2016.

Martell Pettaway is a transfer from the West Virginia Mountaineers.

He entered the transfer portal and officially pledged to Middle Tennessee State on January 19.

Early Wednesday morning it became official that Pettaway was in the boat for MTSU.

Rasul became official right around the same time Pettaway was in.

For his career as a Seminole, Rasul has 49 rushing attempts for 244 yards. That is exactly five yards per carry. He has one rushing touchdown.

His most productive year was in 2017. He had 33 carries for 152 yards, which gave him 4.6 yards a carry.

At West Virginia Pettaway had 217 carries for 1,104 yards. That is 5.1 yards per carry. He has accumulated 11 rushing touchdowns as a Mountaineer. He has 12 receptions for 117 yards and one receiving touchdown.

Pettaway is currently listed at 5'9 and 203 pounds. Rasul is listed at 5'10 and 201 pounds.

Rasul was a four star tailback coming out of high school. He was ranked as the 12th running back in America and the 43rd player in Florida.

Pettaway was a high three star coming out. He was listed as the 17th running back in America and the 12th prospect in the state of Michigan.
