Elias King to MTSU

The MTSU hoops staff has been working to iron out all the kinks and fill out the roster going forward. Sunday they got massive news on the recruiting front with the addition of Elias King.

King was a member of Mississippi State's 2019 class and was dubbed as a four-star player and the number 72 player nationally. On top of that, King was rated as the 18th small forward in America.

As you may imagine, King was coveted and heralded as a recruit coming into the college ranks. King was once committed to be a Georgia Bulldog, but he ultimately flipped to Mississippi State.

King was pursued by big boy programs from all over. Some of those programs include the likes of: Florida, Xavier, Clemson, South Florida, Miami, Seton Hall, Memphis, NC State, Southern California, and Virginia Tech.

King announced his offer from Middle Tennessee State in July of 2017.

It is apparent that the Middle staff made a good connection with King, as he now opts to head to Murfreesboro and play for Nick McDevitt and crew.

Here is a clip segment of King dropping 40 while he was in high school.

Impact Analysis

Elias King is listed as a small forward, but make no bones about it, King has post skills and guard abilities.

He is a guy that can be a microwave from deep, drilling a barrage of long distance shots. King is not just a catch and shoot threat, though. He is extremely adept at creating, putting the ball on the deck to set up a sweet jump shot.

He is a superb passing threat as well. When defenses key in on him, he is able to find the open guy. He also has the height and length to reel in rebounds and contest shots down in the paint.

This is a monster get for the MTSU hoops program. At this juncture it is not 100 percent apparent whether King will be granted immediate eligibility. Still, though, this is a guy that should give the program a facelift.
