The Chattanooga Mocs head to the Murphy Center Monday night for Middle Tennessee's fourth game of the season. Mocs were picked to finish 7th in Southern Conference but have started the season 3-0, with a 36-point win against D2 Lander, and wins against Tennessee Tech and Northern Kentucky by 8 and 7, respectively. They are lead by David Jean-Baptiste, a senior guard who has averaged near 19 points this year, and has started 75 out of 100 career games as a Moc.

Chattanooga's shooting has been a bit sporadic in their opening games. They shot 13-27 (48%) from 3 against Lander, but only 7-35 (20%) in their next two games. From the free throw line, they shot 19-22 (86%) against Tennessee Tech, but combined for 23-36 (64%) against Lander and NKU. Safe to say the jury is still out on how good this year's team can shoot, but they have consistently out-rebounded their opponents thus far, leading on the offensive glass by a combined margin of 37-21 in their three games.

Middle Tennessee is coming off one of their bigger wins in recent memory, beating Murray State 78-61. The Blue Raiders caught fire in the 2nd half, shooting 57% from the floor after shooting just 32% on the season before then.

For MTSU in this game, it comes down to can they continue their momentum. Are they satisfied with beating Murray State or do they want more? How hungry and ambitious has Nick McDevitt and his staff molded this group to be? Efficiency and effort aren't always parallel, but the team is still due to progress to the mean with the talented scorers they have. How confident this group appears coming out the gate on Monday night will be something to watch for.
