Q & A with MTSU's Elias King

Middle Tennessee State recently landed former 4-star, top 75 prospect, Elias King. Matthew Dossett wrote an article immediately after King announced his decision to be a Blue Raider.

Dossett spoke to King in a GoMiddle question and answer session.

Below is the conversation:

Who for MTSU recruited you?

Coach (Andre) Morgan and Coach Nick (McDevitt). It was really all hands on deck.

When did you know that you wanted to be a Blue Raider? Can you explain what all went into the decision making process that ultimately led you to MTSU?

They were recruiting me harder than any other school. Yes, other schools were recruiting hard, but they were on my tail hard, like really hard. They hit me up when they saw my name in the portal first, and I knew if I can play great in that conference, I could potentially accomplish my dreams.

What do you bring to the table? Describe your overall basketball game. What are your strengths?

I bring the ability to defend and play all spots. I can shoot, I can dribble, I can pass and I can help win games when it comes down to it.

What part of your game are you specifically working on the most?

I've been working on my level of intensity and the ability to not stop and still have a big motor.

What have you been doing during the Covid-19 quarantine period?

I have been working really hard (on and off the court).

What is your current height and weight?

I am 6'9 and 207 pounds.

Have you visited MTSU? If so, what was your impression?

I did a virtual tour.

What is your major and what are you studying in school?

I am undecided right now.

When it came to picking MTSU, what schools were you considering? Why MT?

I wanted to feel like family. I want to be involved and not feel like I wasn’t needed or didn't feel like family. I wanted to be involved with people that accepted me and not just tolerated me.

Thoughts about eligibility upon arriving at MTSU?

I will try to be immediately eligible.

At this juncture, the clarity of the eligibility process for King is hazy. In other words, at this point in time, there is no 100 percent verification one way or the other when it comes to King's eligibility status. It will certainly be something to keep an eye on going forward.

Either way, King is a massive addition for Nick McDevitt. He is a piece to build around going forward. Along with the other pieces MT is assembling, the trajectory of the program seems to be shifting upwards in a good way.

Below is past tape from King:
