MTSU football received some big news on Saturday when 2021 California QB Matt Geeting committed to the Blue Raiders.

Geeting is the first commitment in the 2021 class.

GoMiddle spoke to Geeting last month when he was initially offered by the Blue Raiders.

"I’m completely thrilled to have the opportunity to play football at MTSU," Geeting told GoMiddle on his commitment. "The coaches tell me that they are all excited and hype to have me along! Now it’s my job to help shape this 2021 class into the best class we’ve seen at MTSU! My goal is to win a conference championship, bowl game, and a national championship! That’s my mindset coming in and I know that the coaches are on board!"

Having a QB on board first is big deal as other prospects tend to be more willing to jump on board when they know who their QB is going to be.

Geeting plans to start peer recruiting for the Blue Raiders as soon as possible.

MTSU identified Geeting early because the coaching staff had the inside scoop on him before most other programs. Mykeal Terry is the Athletic Director at Chino Hills, many GoMiddle readers may remember him from his time as a WR at Troy. He played for MTSU offensive coordinator Tony Franklin while there and played alongside MTSU WR CoachAustin Silvoy. Terry is also a camp QB coach for the Tony Franklin System.

Geeting chose MTSU over an offer from Lehigh, but he was also hearing regularly from San Diego State and San Jose State. We wouldn't be surprised to see his offer list improve quite dramatically with a good senior season.
