Who earns the QB job in 2019?

Middle Tennessee is coming off a 8-6 (7-1) campaign capped off by their first Conference USA East Division title in school history.

And now they are forced to find the heir to QB Brent Stockstill, who graduated from the program after leaving his mark on a number of Blue Raider records.

Not only will MT be forced to replace arguably their best signal caller in program history, but whoever lands the honor will have to start the 2019 season on the road against the Michigan Wolverines.

Redshirt Sophomore Asher O'Hara, incoming JUCO transfer Randall Johnson and Redshirt Sophomore Chase Cunningham appear to be the ones left to battle it out to start the season opener.

It's hard not to lean towards O'Hara being the guy for the Blue Raiders because of his experience. O'Hara has over a year in the system put in with Tony Franklin by now, and he looked the part in limited action last year, including a road game against Florida International where he rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown while throwing for 114 yards on 9-of-20 passing in a 24-21 loss to the Panthers.

That being said, Randall Johnson wasn't brought in to warm a bench, he was brought in to compete for the starting job. While their skill-sets look similar, Johnson is the much bigger QB of the two, which is a blessing MT has not had in some time.

Time will tell on how things shake out, but the QB battle this fall will undoubtedly be the most exciting one in recent memory.
