Visit icing on the cake for Jones

South Pittsburgh (Tenn.) tailback David Jones is one of the most talented prospects on Middle Tennessee's 2009 commit list and the star runner went through one of the final steps of his recruitment with an official visit to Murfreesboro over the weekend.
According to Jones' father, the visit only further enhanced the relationship between Middle Tennessee and his son.

"We came up and had a good time," Daniel Jones said Sunday. "It was very enjoyable. It was just pretty much the icing on the cake. The staff is all on the same page and Middle Tennessee is in position to come out of the smaller 1-A schools and move up into the prime time. They are making those kinds of moves.
"We were treated quite well and the accomodations were unbelievable. The hospitality and everything was wonderful. It was a very comfortable visit for myself and for my son."
Jones committed to the Blue Raiders in early December over several major offers, including ones from Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, and Memphis.
The chance to compete for immediate playing time and help the Blue Raiders elevate their program to a higher profile appealed to the 6-foot, 197 tailback.
But more than anything it was MT's persistent efforts to recruit him that really stood out.
"He is very excited about the opportunity at Middle Tennessee," Daniel Jones said after the visit. "He had opportunities to go to bigger schools so to speak, but Coach David Bibee's relentless recruiting of him pretty much did the job ... All of the coaches were involved but Coach Bibee being his main recruiter was real instrumental in the whole process."
Jones was one of three Blue Raider commitments to officially visit this weekend, joining Rhea County lineman Josh Walker and Ooltewah safety Sammy Seamster.
