The Middle Tennessee Blue Raider football staff picked up their first commitment of the 2014 recruiting class Tuesday when Ocala (Fla) Tight End Max Linder announced his decision via his Twitter account.
OFFICIALLY COMMITTED TO MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE! GOING TO BE A BLUE RAIDER! #GOBLUE- Max Linder (@maxlinder_) June 18, 2013
Linder's commitment begins what Blue Raider fans hope will be a spark for other commitments to follow. While programs around the nation have been picking up early commitments, the Blue Raiders were biding their time and evaluating prospects closely.
For Linder, that evaluation came up close in personal when he visited Murfreesboro for a recent camp held on campus. Evidently, it was not just the Blue Raider coaching staff who came away impressed with things.
A versatile player, Linder plays the tight end position as well as defensive end, and is even a heralded long snapper.
On the recruiting front, Linder held confirmed offers from Akron, Troy and UAB and was receiving interest from UConn, FIU, Indiana, Purdue and USF.
Linder will play his senior ball for West Port High School after transferring from Forest High. An interesting note to add to this story is that Linder is now teammates with OL Delroy Baker, another prospect on MT's radar.

UPDATE:
The Blue Raiders picked up their second commitment less than 24 hours after picking up their first. Local Goodpasture Christian School product Jesse Moffitt committed to the Blue Raiders then took to his Twitter account to make the announcement.
Excited to be committed to Mtsu to play football for the next four years!! #blueraider- Jesse Moffitt (@J_Moff80) June 19, 2013
Moffitt was recruited by MT at the offensive guard position. At Goodpasture, he has played the guard position as well as tight end and defensive end. At a local combine last year, Moffitt described himself as a defensive tackle, but the Blue Raider coaches like what they saw on the other side of the line, and thus, Moffitt will transition to guard, full time, once he arrives in Murfreesboro.
Known for a strong work ethic, Moffitt is a workhorse in the weight room where he has posted a bench max of 365 pounds and a squat max of 425 pounds, respectively.
Off of the football field, Moffitt also excelled in track, where he recently excelled in the shot put competition during the Blue Cross Spring Fling - posting a fourth place finish.
As for his summer regimen, Moffitt has been making the rounds at various camps in the southeast. To date, Moffitt has camped with MT, WKU, Vanderbilt and LSU.
