Ramsey makes the switch

For weeks it has appeared that the battle for Franklin (Tenn.) Battle Ground Academy quarterback Jamal Ramsey was trending toward Middle Tennessee.
The 6-foot-3, 185 pounder committed to Miami (Ohio) last summer but after a coaching change with the RedHawks, Ramsey started taking a hard look at the Blue Raiders and scheduled an official visit for this weekend.

He ended any remaining speculation with a phone call on Wednesday to Middle Tennessee head coach Rick Stockstill and offered a commitment, even before making his visit.
"I was going to (commit to MT) this weekend but I just got tired of waiting," Ramsey said. "I just wanted to go ahead and get it over with. I've been talking to Benny (Cunningham) and Arthur (Williams) and I just decided to go ahead and do it today."
Stockstill took a lead role in Ramsey's recruitment and the full court press from him, recruiting coach Jimmy Ray Stephens, and other Blue Raider commitments sealed the deal for the in-state star.
"I know especially down the stretch they recruited me the hardest of any team," Ramsey said of the Blue Raiders. "I felt like they really needed me and Coach Stock always told me I was their number one guy. I really felt the love."
Ramsey still plans to make his official visit this weekend, along with five other MT commitments and numerous other top targets.
