Every year, the statement gets made by someone, somewhere, that Middle Tennessee football does not recruit the state of Tennessee hard enough.

After this year, however, those people will need to find another tree to bark up.

As if landing pledges from six of their first nine commitments from the state of Tennessee wasn't enough, the Blue Raiders landed a seventh Friday morning when Marshall County High ILB Cain McWilliams officially pledged his services to the Blue Raiders.

McWilliams took to Twitter to make his announcement official.

In McWilliams, the Blue Raiders get another big, physical, backer to plug into the middle of their unit.

At 6-foot-2 and checking in at 227 pounds, McWilliams has a body that is ready for the rigors of FBS football right now. As it turns out, he's got the talent to match it.

To date, McWilliams held offers from MT, South Carolina, Georgia State and a slew of FCS programs. His Gamecock offer came immediately following an impressive showing at a satellite camp this summer.

As a junior at Fayetteville High, McWilliams tallied 60 total tackles, 18 TFL, four sacks, two INTs (one returned for a TD) and a fumble recovery while playing defensive end.

Following a transfer to Marshall County - a move that was made in order to get McWilliams in the mix with steeper competition - McWilliams has transitioned to the LB position, but the plan is to have him reek havoc all over the field. So far, the move has worked out well. McWilliams notched two sacks and 13 tackles in Marshall County's first two games.

Keep it locked here to GoMiddle.com as we'll have much more to come on the newest addition of the 2017 Blue Raider recruiting class.
