The Middle Tennessee Blue Raider coaching staff has been on quite a roll lately on the recruiting front.

A week after landing standout JUCO guard David Simmons, Kermit Davis and his staff reeled in a highly touted power forward from the state of Georgia.

T.J. Massenburg of Shiloh High, and the Southern Stampede Nike travel team, took to Twitter Monday morning to make his announcement official.

Standing at 6-foot-8 and clocking in at 220 pounds, Massenburg's commitment secures the future of the Blue Raider front court at the PF position.

Known as a reliable pick-and-pop shooter with a tenacious attitude towards defending and rebounding, Massenburg fits the mold of what Davis looks for in his players. He's made his living in the paint on the defensive side of the ball, but has begun blossoming as a legitimate offensive weapon as well.

Following an impressive junior campaign where he averaged 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks per game, Massenburg was tabbed as a Georgia Athletic Coaches Association AAAAAA First Team All-State selection.

His junior season was his first with Shiloh after transferring. Massenburg overcame a slow start while getting acclimated to the system and really turned things on to become a dominant force for the Generals down the stretch.

With his confidence growing and his play backing it up, Massenburg's recruitment started to pick up, especially after a successful run with the Southern Stampede travel team this summer - a run that included Co-MVP honors after his squad captured the Best of the South event championship.

To date, Massenburg held 12 offers, including ones from ECU, Temple, James Madison, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern, UNC-Wilmington, South Alabama, Towson and others. Massenburg also took official visits to MT, Temple and James Madison in September.

After taking a couple of weeks to reflect on his options following his last visit, Massenburg landed on the Blue Raiders as his school of choice.

A great student as well, Massenburg plans to major in the engineering field.
