The morning after Middle Tennessee head coach Kermit Davis made media waves by taking a pledge for his 2021 class, the Blue Raider front man got things kickstarted with his 2018 class.

Gainesville High (GA) combo forward KJ Buffen, fresh off an official visit to MT over the last weekend, took to Twitter Wednesday morning to make his official announcement.

In Buffen, Davis and staff have presumably found their next level version of former MT great Reggie Upshaw, whom anaylsts such as Seth Greenberg were quick to compare Buffen to.

On the recruiting trail, Buffen was seeing his stock rise great lengths in recent months.

In addition to MT, Buffen held offers from Georgia Tech, Wichita State, Old Dominion, Rhode Island, Arkansas State, Buffalo, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Wyoming and others.

In the end, Buffen chose the Blue Raiders over Georgia State, whom he had visited in the days leading up to his official visit at MT.

For a class only expected to come in three (maybe four) deep, Buffen became a top priority for the Blue Raiders over the summer. Buffen took his official visit to MT in the company of Rivals 150 guard Trey Doomes, who is said to also be considering a Middle Tennessee commitment at this time.

One thing is for sure though - KJ Buffen is on the board, and the 2018 Blue Raider recruiting class is officially in motion.

Keep it locked here to GoMiddle.com as we'll have more on Buffen's commitment, and more, coming soon!
