Looking at MT commits for 2021

Middle Tennessee State recently added a fourth member to the recruiting class for 2021. Elijah Metcalf recently pledged to Middle Tennessee State. GoMiddle staff writer Tyler Pellom broke that story!

Prior to that commitment, there were three commits, two from June and one from July.

Let's look at who is in the boat for the Blue Raiders.

Matthew Geeting, the west coast signal caller, pledged to the Blue Raiders on June 13.

Geeting was the very first guy in the boat for the 2021 class. He was offered back in April.

Geeting was offered by Lehigh two days before the Middle offer.

Obviously this has been a weird recruiting cycle considering that Covid-19 truly threw a wrench into the recruiting process. If Geeting were able to attend and compete in spring and summer camps, he likely would have turned heads and garnered more attention, thus resulting in more offers.

To be frank, MTSU is likely benefiting from the Corona curveball. It increases their chance of locking him down.

Geeting checks off the boxes when you start glancing at his attributes. At 6'5, 200 pounds, Geeting can make the throws necessary to compete at the D1 level. He brings some durability to the table as well. It is worth mentioning that Geeting has been very active on social media, recruiting for the Blue Raiders.

MTSU's second known commitment was Jaquan Toney.

Toney pledged 12 days after the Geeting commitment.

At 6'4, 288 pounds, Toney projects to play either guard or tackle at the collegiate level.

Toney was also offered on April 9.

Toney holds offers from Alabama State and Alcorn State.

He has a wrestling background and it shows when you fire up the game tape. He is physical at the point of attack, again, bringing the versatility to play guard or tackle on the offensive line.

MT had some recruiting fireworks the day before Independence Day. Junior college defensive back Isaiah Norris pledged the Rick Stockstill and company on July 3.

Coming out of the High School ranks, Norris signed with New Mexico Military Institute.

At this juncture, Norris only has one offer, and that is from Middle Tennessee State.

At six-feet and around 170 pounds, and with his skillset, Norris fits the mold of a cornerback at the next level.

Now we pivot and turn our attention to the most recent addition for MTSU's 2021 class, Elijah Metcalf.

Metcalf took to Twitter on Friday, August 14, announcing his official commitment to the Blue Raiders.

As staff writer Tyler Pellom has alluded to, Metcalf picked MT over his other top schools, which were Akron, Army, Georgia Southern, Kent State, and Liberty.

Metcalf also boasted offers from the likes of: Navy, Ball State, Charleston Southern, Yale, North Carolina A & T, Elon, Wofford, Austin Peay, Richmond, and UT-Martin,

MT got in the hunt relatively early in his recruiting process, compared to other schools. Middle offered back in April, and Metcalf took to Twitter on April 8 to announce his offer from the Blue Raiders.

Metcalf posted some gaudy statistics as a high school junior. For his junior campaign he had 64 snags for 1,125 yards and 16 touchdowns.

During his sophomore year he had 30 catches for 700 plus yards and seven touchdowns.
