Howard signs with the Blue Raiders

The recruiting journey of Coffeyville Community College 3-star CB Jamarcus Howard has finally come to an end.
Following an official visit and some time for reflection, Howard has committed to Rick Stockstill and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders.
His recruitment was not without excitement. A one-time Texas Tech commit, Howard was slated to sign with the Red Raiders, but ultimately held off on Signing Day as he began fielding serious interest from MT and Louisville.
With one official visit out of the way, Howard was slated to visit Bobby Petrino and the Cardinals this weekend, but that is now off the books as Howard has signed his official Letter of Intent and sent it to the Blue Raider coaches.
In Howard, the Blue Raiders land a coveted defensive back who is touted as a lockdown defender, something that the Blue Raiders could really use on the defensive side of the ball.
Adding Howard to a group that includes a lot of young, up-and-coming talent, along with newcomers Pat Martin and Jordan Frost-Dixon, it would appear as though the Blue Raiders have solidified their secondary for the foreseeable future.
A speedster with a reported 4.35 forty time, Howard fielded reported offers from MT, Louisville, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Southern Miss and West Virginia, while also getting interest from Miami (FL), Northern Illinois, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Arkansas and Arkansas State.
On the field, Howard was one of the brightest stars for the Red Ravens this past season. For the year, Howard tallied 53 tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, one fumble recovery, two forced fumbles and five pass break-ups.
In addition to those numbers, Howard netted two defensive touchdowns - one on a 59-yard pick six, and the other coming on his lone fumble recovery of the season, which he took 35 yards to the house. He also blocked two field goal attempts.
Howard will be the 24th signee of the Blue Raiders 2014 recruiting class (including QB Brent Stockstill). MT is still in the market for a defensive tackle, but will likely take some time to evaluate prospects and wait for some late qualifiers to identify themselves.
