Donte Houston Jr: Recruiting Prospect Spotlight

The time to officially sign for hoops prospects is dwindling. Middle Tennessee State has one heralded prospect in the boat in Christian Fussell.

There are certainly other guys in the crosshairs for Middle. There are guys like Demarcus Sharp, Rueadale Williams, Donte Houston Jr and Keon Ellis.

For this edition of the recruiting spotlight focus, we zero in on Donte Houston. We at GoMiddle have already discussed the recruiting board as a whole, but this time we focus on Houston.

There is no dodging the fact that Middle Tennessee State needs to revamp the roster if they intend to compete at a high level in Conference USA play.

Adding Donte Houston as a Blue Raider would be a fantastic way to keep the Blue Raider train rolling in the right direction. Make no bones about it, having a big time guy in Christian Fussell is certainly a good start. Adding Houston would give MT an elite one-two punch down low.

Getting Houston to sign with Middle would be a big splash, causing many to recognize that Middle is definitely rolling in the right direction.

Houston recently took to Twitter to announce his top five schools as he approaches his decision to ink on the line for a school.

The teams that made the cut were: Middle Tennessee State, St. Louis, Missouri State, New Mexico and Central Florida.

Getting Houston in the fray would allow the Middle coaching staff to turn to the backcourt when it comes to this recruiting class. In other words, the staff would be saying "Ok, we have the front court set for this class, let's now hone in on the backcourt."

Houston's game is evolving and he is a guy that could really blossom into a difference maker on the hardwood. If he continues to develop his skills offensively, look out.

He is an energizer bunny out there, swatting shots and snagging rebounds. He is also a threat to drop step dunk on opponents.

Take a gander at the tape.

There is no skating around the fact that Houston would be a big time get and a feather in the cap for Nick McDevitt. Houston is currently the 133rd prospect in all of the land, and getting him in the boat would be a statement to say the least.
