Christian Fussell signs with MTSU

On Friday afternoon 2020 big man Christian Fussell signed with Middle Tennessee State.

Fussell pledged to the Blue Raiders on September 30. In the world of recruiting it's not over until the ink is dry.

It is now official and Fussell is officially a Middle Tennessee State Blue Raider.

Matt Dossett caught up with Fussell around the time he committed to MTSU. Here is some of the material from Matt Dossett's question and answer session with Fussell.

When did you first know that you wanted to become a Blue Raider?

I first noticed that I wanted to be a Blue Raider on my visit. I also had my mind made up before the visit (the weekend of the football game against Duke). The visit made me not want to leave the campus.

What was it about MTSU? Why MTSU? What put the Blue Raiders over the top?

It was just the way it felt. It felt like home the whole time I was on my visit. They really treated me like family.

How often have you visited Middle? What are some of the memories that you have had on your visit? What did you enjoy during your visit(s)?

I only visited MTSU once and it was a great visit. I bonded with all of the coaches and players well and they had a great visit planned out for me. My best memory was when the coaches took me out to Top Golf. I Had a great time with players and coaches.

Who has been your primary recruiter at Middle Tennessee State? What do you like about that coach?

Coach Andre Morgan was my primary recruiter for MTSU. We built a relationship like no other. I loved that he made me a priority through the whirlwind process.

What are some of your goals on the court for your senior season?

Some of my goals are to dominate through out most of my games and win a state championship. That’s all that’s on my mind for the (senior) season.

What are your strengths as a basketball player? Any areas you want to improve on?

Some strengths I have as a basketball player are my ability to shoot pretty good from outside and bang a little in the inside. I’m a super versatile player that can also defend multiple positions, and I just want to improve in my whole game. I just want to work hard and get better.

What are your expectations as a freshman when you get to MTSU?

My expectations going in at MTSU are to just go in work hard, be humble, and listen to whatever the coaches got to say. I just want to be a huge impact as a freshman and I'm hoping to be playing some decent minutes coming in as a freshman.

Who were some of the other top schools on your list before committing to MTSU?

My top three schools were VCU and Dayton. I chose MTSU over them and I plan on enrolling during the summer.

What is your current height and weight?

6'9 and 220 pounds.
