Checking in With 2021 Prospect Da'Shawn Brown

MTSU football is always looking for speed and quickness on offense. 2021 WR Da'Shawn Brown fits the mold. The 6'1', 170 WR from York High School in York, SC is a do-it-all-player for his team. He displays good speed, quickness and agility at kick returner and punt returner; and great ability tracking and catching the ball at WR.

The MTSU football staff identified Brown early and gave him his first Division 1 offer on April 7th.

Many schools have followed MTSU's lead: Appalachian State, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, and Connecticut have also extended offers. South Carolina and Wake Forest are keeping tabs on him as well.

GoMiddle caught up with Da'Shawn to get his feelings about MTSU, his recruitment starting to blow up, and workouts during COVID-19.

"I was excited! [about the MTSU offer] I was just happy they took a chance on me first. I know they throw the ball a lot and get the ball in their playmakers' hands and that’s what I like about MTSU!"

Coach Royston is heading up Brown's recruitment to this point. He said he feels he is a priority for the staff, "me and Coach Royston talk a lot!"

Brown told us he's trying his best to stay in shape during COVID-19. His school has not been opened yet for practice so he's been working out at home.

He plans to visit all the schools who have offered him once the lockdowns end for those schools - and once the NCAA (hopefully) ends the moratorium on recruiting visits on July 1st.

When asked if any schools are sticking out at this point, Brown replied, "all the schools who have offered." He went on to say he plans to seriously narrow down his list once he can visit each campus and he wants to make a commitment before the start of his senior year.
