Catching Up With '21 TX WR Brandon Spencer

MTSU football is starting to heat up on the recruiting trail with 3 commitments in the last month and rumors of more coming soon (sign up for our free board to see the scoop.)

Class of 2021 Wide Receiver Brandon Spencer II is a prospect the coaching staff has identified early as a major target.

Spencer II received the Blue Raiders offer on May 1st.

Spencer II says he's up to 6'0', 180 pounds, ideal size for a slot receiver in the modern college passing game.

We asked him what he thought about the MTSU offer.

"I am very thankful for the opportunity and I love the coaching staff there at MTSU. Coach Stock is an amazing man and I know he has a lot to offer. I’d love to get down there and learn from the coaches and players there."

Spencer II plays for Lone Star High School in Frisco, TX. We all know high school football in Texas is a big deal and Lone Star plays in 5A. The team went undefeated in the regular season, recording its first loss late in the playoffs to Ryan High School.

One thing that immediately stands out on Spencer's film is his immediate separation from defenders. Watching those snaps, it's almost frustrating to watch as he breaks free from the defensive back but has to wait for the football.

If he can maintain that type of separation against high level Texas high school football, it stands to reason he would be able to translate that separation to the Conference USA level.

MTSU is Spencer's first offer to date, but he hears from Louisiana, Houston Baptist, Army, Furman, Charlotte, Columbia, and Dartmouth almost daily and believes he's close to receiving offers from those schools soon.
