BREAKING: 2021 WR Elijah Metcalf Commits to MTSU

MT football received big news on Friday as 2021 Charlotte, North Carolina Wide Receiver Elijah Metcalf committed to the Blue Raiders.

The 5'9", 170 pound speedster picked MT over offers from Akron, Army, Georgia Southern, Kent State, Liberty and his local school, Charlotte.

WR Coach Austin Silvoy has proven himself to be one of the top recruiters on staff in Murfreesboro as he is the main recruiter on two of the four current MT commitments.

"It just felt like home to me. I feel like I can excel on and off the field at MT. Coach Silvoy is a great guy. We've built a great relationship and he has been the same person since the day he offered me."

Current QB commit Matt Geeting may rightfully be credited with an assist on this one.

"Matt is a great guy. He's been communicating with me through this entire process and I can't wait to play with him!"

Metcalf plays for Mallard Creek High School - the Mavericks went 10-1-1 last season. Metcalf was their most productive Wide Receiver, by far, totaling 64 receptions for 1125 yards and 16 touchdowns. He averaged 17.6 yards per catch and 102.3 yards per game. He found the end-zone every 4 times he touched the ball.

Metcalf plays on the outside for Mallard Creek but will likely move inside to the slot on the college level. His speed and quickness will be a big addition for the Blue Raider offense.

Metcalf says he is going to follow Geeting's lead and start recruiting players on behalf of the Blue Raiders.
