Blue Raiders reel in star running back

Middle Tennessee has heavily courted South Pittsburg (Tenn.) running back David Jones for many months now and the hard work has paid off for the Blue Raiders.
According to the Chattanooga Times Free-Press, Jones pledged to Rick Stockstill's program late Monday night.

"They just seemed like the school that needed me the most," Jones told the Times Free-Press. "They've shown me the most love all season, and I decided it was time to let them know I would sign with them. They told me they'll feed the ball to their best players and that they like me as a running back."
Jones, ranked 23rd by Rivals.com in the state of Tennessee, is traveling to Carson-Newman this week to play in the Toyota East-West All Star Classic, where he will be teammates on the East squad with Blue Raider commitments Sammy Seamster (Ooltewah) and Josh Walker (Rhea County).
The 6-foot, 197 pound Jones combines speed and power, a mix that immediately attracted the Middle Tennessee staff as well as offers from Vanderbilt, Memphis, and Mississippi State.
He has made at least unofficial visits to Middle Tennessee over the last several months, including one for a game during the season.
Jones led his high school team to the state's Class A championship last season as a junior and closed his high school career with an outstanding senior season.
