Raiders still projected to go to GMAC Bowl against Temple.. Hit the link below.

Link: This week's bowl projections

Some of those I see as off, including us in the GMAC Bowl. I don't see WV finishing 5th in the Big East. (could be because I'm a WV fan after MT. LOL) But I see us in the PapaJohn's Bowl against USF because I don't see the SEC having 9 bowl eligble teams.

In another 2 weeks I would say things will start to come to light for sure..

We just need to win Saturday...and then this will start taking shape.

I'd rather play Temple in the GMAC. Better destination and a better chance to win. Sorry folks, but Noel Devine would tear us up...

All this is moot if we don't win, starting with Saturday. Let's make it to 5-3 with a win...

UTK to the Music City Bowl? That's funny.

The West Virginia projection to the PapaJohns Bowl doesn't mean they are projected to finish 5th in the Big East. Cincinnati is projected to go to a BCS game. Notre Dame is part of the Big East's bowl lineup so they are likely to get picked second to go to the Gator Bowl. Pitt is the likely third pick to the Meineke Bowl because WVU went there last season. Rutgers went to the PapaJohns last season so I doubt they get sent back there again. WVU fits in that slot and it's probably a better slot for them against an SEC team rather than going to the International Bowl against a MAC team.

I can understand what you are saying about playing Temple, but we also need a good showing in another area - fan attendance.

We would have a lot more people in B'ham than Mobile. Most of the hard core fans would go to either bowl, so take them out of the equation. The casual MT fan would be much more likely to go to B'ham rather than Mobile for several reasons.

1. Travel distance. From M'boro, its a 4 our drive distance between B'ham and Mobile. Casual fans are much more likely to take on a 3 hour drive rather than 7. Plus you could do the PapaJohn's Bowl as a day trip.

2. Game date. The Papa John's Bowl is on a Saturday, while the GMAC is on a Wednesday. More casual fans are going to go to a bowl that doesn't cost them vacation time rather than to a game that will cost 2 or 3 days.

3. Opponent Intrigue. Casual fans are more likely to want to see us play West Virginia or another BE opponent rather than Temple or a MAC team.

We would more than double or triple our fan attendance by playing someone like WV in B'ham rather than Temple in Mobile, especially given the dates of the games.

And for me personally, I have zero chance of being at the GMAC bowl, but 100% chance of being at the Papa John's bowl if MT makes it.

I agree with RaiderDawg on this one. I have more of a chance to go to B'Ham over New Years' Weekend than I do Mobile the following Wednesday.

if we go to a bowl at 8-4 i want to play the team we have the best chance of beating. 9 win season would be very good momentum for the whole program.

Very good point. I forgot about last year's games.

I know one thing for sure, like someone else said, Devine and Brown would pound us. Our defense is fast, but the offense is super fast. We certainly would have a better chance of beating Temple. But I'm not gonna get my hopes up either way. We need two more weeks (including two more wins for us) before things start to really take shape. Many of those teams in that list won't even be bowl eligble at year's end.

USF will be lucky to be bowl eligible this season, and I don't see us getting to Papa Johns unless we're atleast 8-4

After our win over WVU, maybe we can make it to the Pizza Bowl after all. Would be great for me too, easy drive from The Boro.

now that we have won this game today this is the first time i feel like we can really start to think about bowl game as a possibility. i dont care who we play or where it is. i just want to see us in a bowl game!
